A FAIRMONT HOTEL, LONDON

IIPM Ranked No. 1 B-School In Global Exposre - Zee...

FAIRMONT HOTEL, LONDONOpened in 1889 by Richard D’Oyly Carte in the heart of the city, the Savoy is still considered the best and the most prestigious place to stay in London. The name is derives from the Savoy Palace that occupied the place before…

THE VIEW: Enough to inspire a poet’s pen and a painter’s brush, the hotel, overlooking the Thames, provides spectacular views of the river... if the fact that the world renowned painters, Claude Monet and James Whistler, together painted more than a hundred canvases looking out of their hotel rooms is to be given any credit!

ARCHI TYPE: The architecture initially designed by Thomas Edward Collcutt (who also designed the Wigmore Hall), each of the 263 rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and opulently decorated in the traditional British style with the Art-Deco touch.

BON APPÉTIT: As can be expected of a kitchen where Auguste Escoffier, one of the most important developers of Modern French cuisinen once cooked, it offers the most scrumptious cuisines. Don’t miss the legendary Melba Toast, a speciality that was developed in honour of the celebrated Australian opera soprano, Dame Nellie Melba. But don’t expect much – you’ll only find almost-burnt-pieces of very thin toasts!

AROUND THE CORNER: The Savoy Pier is located right outside the hotel on the Thames that provides easy access to all the major locales, – the city of London, the Canary Wharf, as also the south-eastern urban sprawl. The stay is complete in every sense of the word, only if you savour the traditional British food at Simpson’s-in-the-Strand.

FROM UNDER THE CARPET: Dining at the Savoy is a pleasurable experience. But if you’ve come in a group of 13, you shouldn’t mind an alabaster cat, Kaspar, sitting beside you on of the dining chairs, as is the custom! The ultra formal atmosphere can make breathing difficult.

IN ESSENCE: Royal and regal, heart-stirring will be your stay!
